Our story

Poplar Ridge Nursery is a family-owned wholesale nursery located in Montross, Virginia, specializing in ornamental grasses, sedges, and native plant material.

Founded in 2002 by Marion and Kristy, Poplar Ridge Nursery was built from the ground up through the hard work and dedication of the Packett family. What began as a small family operation has grown into a thriving nursery serving customers throughout Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic, New England, and beyond.

Over the years, the nursery has expanded its production capabilities while maintaining the values on which it was founded: quality plant material, dependable service, and strong customer relationships. Today, Poplar Ridge Nursery operates more than 20 greenhouses and produces a wide selection of warm-season grasses, cool-season grasses, sedges, and specialty liners for wholesale growers, landscapers, and restoration projects.

In 2026, the next generation (Emma) joined the business, continuing the family's commitment to providing exceptional plants and personalized customer service.
